Manatee Football Fight Song
Fight the team across the field,
Show them Manatee’s here.
Set the earth reverberating
With a mighty cheer. RAH RAH RAH Hit them hard and see how they fall. Never let their team get the ball
Hail, hail, the gang’s all here
As we cheer for old Manatee now. MANATEE... MANATEE... MANATEE
Manatee High School Alma Mater
Hail Alma Mater
To thy spirit guiding
Pledge we fidelity
By thy name abiding
Armored with courage
Ne’er from battle hiding
Hail thee dear Manatee
Who is "BILLY"
Four out of the six high schools in Manatee County have a mascot. Manatee and Southeast are the only schools lacking the symbols of school spirit. Sophomore Class Board wants to bring the spirit to Manatee and this new tradition to our school. Following the necessary regulations to be allowed to get the mascot for Manatee, the club would be required to get the project approved by the principal.
“Loonie Times Character Productions”, a company based in Canada that specializes in building custom mascots, has been contacted about creating the mascot. The company’s artist has drawn several renditions of the hurricane costume for the class board. The mascot costume is quoted at $5,000, the average price for a custom suit. In order to raise funds to purchase the mascot, Sophomore Class Board plans to ask local businesses to donate and leave Manatee-decorated tip jars next to the cash registers. The mascot would take six weeks to complete, due to it being created all by hand.
The board has worked extensively with designers to ensure the costume would closely resemble that of the classic hurricane that has been present at Manatee for over 40 years.
The new mascot would attend pep rallies, home and away varsity football games, and other Manatee sporting events. Possible events for the hurricane include, but are not limited to, cheering with the cheerleaders, rousing the crowd and supporting the drumline during drum-offs. If the mascot is approved, Sophomore Class Board wants to have the mascot by next August. The reason being Manatee’s football team will be on ESPN for their first game. It would be an unsurpassable reward for the board’s hard work to be shown across America.
